Feature Friend Friday 🎂

Happy Friday Loves!! I hope & pray that you had a decent week and hopefully an upcoming relaxing weekend. To kick off your weekend, I would like to introduce you to a good friend of mine (who I now call my sister). We met at work, two years ago (I think), she showed me the ropes and then over time we became really good friends. We would literally sit at work, work on our own businesses, and bounce ideas off each other and that’s when I knew that crossing paths was nothing but God’s plan. Having someone to express your love and passion with, that wants you to succeed just as much as they want to succeed is a feeling that is indescribable. Women supporting women is truly an amazing bond and creates a commodity that dispels the crab mentality.

So sit back, relax, pour a glass of wine, and read this mini interview I did on my sis, Courtni Sellers, a baker located in Greensboro, North Carolina.

What has been the biggest obstacle you’ve had or still are facing in regards to baking?

🧁 The biggest obstacle I’ve faced with baking is probably not baking as much as I would want to. People aren’t having big gatherings and events due to COVID so I haven’t had much time to really bake and do what I love.

How do you “get into your zone”? Do you have a baking playlist?

🧁 To get into my zone while baking, I Binge watch Netflix. Anything funny to keep me

What is something you want to stop making, start making, and make more of?

🧁 I eventually want to stop making candy apples. They aren’t as popular in my opinion, and it’s very time consuming. I want to start making gourmet cookies, similar to something like Crumbl, but better. I would love to continue to make more cakes so I can get more comfortable with taking on any type of cake orders.

Is it actually safe to eat a cake after a year on a couples’ wedding anniversary? Do the couple need to specify they don’t want fondant, or does that matter?

🧁 It is 100% safe to eat a cake after a year for an anniversary. As long as the cake is stored in a freezer safe container, it will be fine to eat. It will just need to be brought to room temperature for optimal taste.

Do you prefer to have a customer with specific instructions or one who doesn’t care and “trust you” ?

🧁 I love customers who give me free will to just do my thing. I like looking at inspiration photo, and just going from there to make it my style.

Do you have a favorite decorating technique?

🧁 I love doing rosette cakes. Although simple, it’s very elegant and can be used for any themed cake.
